Did anyone watch the re run of Steven Poliakovs Shooting the Past last night?
I watched it on it first run in the early 1990s and knew I loved it. So I thought I would dip in and maybe watch bits of it. But, as with the first time I watched it, I found it utterly compelling.
It is quite simply one of the most beautiful piece of TV i have ever watched. Fantastic acting, particularly Timothy Spall. Visually stunnining and the music is just perfect.
Yes Minty it is the one about a photograpic library with Linsey Duncan in it. I really can not recommed this highly enough. It's a really well told tale of the 'small man trying to outwit the big business. It is so cleverly and beautifully told and the photos are used in such a captivating way that you feel pulled in to the story. If another chance comes up, don't miss it!
I watched "Perfect strangers" and liked it. Also watched "Crocodiles and Friends", but found myself irritated by the character that Damien Lewis played. Still enjoyed it as a fasinating piece of work, but not as good as some of the other Poliakoffs. There seems to be a new one that is due to be aired soon too, looking forwards to it.
