Title: UK launch for overseas products?
Post by: smurfboy on November 15, 2004, 05:15:26 pm

Which products currently only available overseas would you like to see launched here in Blighty? Maybe a good idea for a poll, ChocAdmin?

My personal suggestions would be: Oh Henry (US bar with caramel, peanuts and fudge - sorry peanut-hating Paulham, but I adore it), Peanut Butter Twix (self-explanatory) and Reese's Pieces (imagine peanut butter M and Ms).

Of those I have never tried but would love the chance to: Cadbury's Snack (not the biscuit - the Aussie alternative to the old Milk Tray Bar), Cadbury's Peppermint Roll (a bit like a cross between Rolos and After Eights), After Eight Royale (Canadian After Eight bar) and Terry's Chocolate Raspberry (Chocolate Orange but, well, raspberry flavoured.)

Be good to hear all the various suggestions!

White chocolate M&M's,

Cherry Ripe,

Caramilk (Cadbury version of Caramac),

and...all the unusual KitKat falvours we have yet to try!

CHERRY RIPE AND CHERRY MASH. PEPPERMINT ROLL AND AFTER EIGHT ROYAL.

Don't forget peanut-hating Goldencup, Smurfboy!  I am struggling to imagine anything worse than a peanut butter Twix.

Cherry Ripes are nothing special but Cabana fans will probably like them.  .. Peppermint Roll and After Eight Roll both sound interesting.  Cadbury's Snack is nothing like as good as the old Milk Tray Bar because Aussie milk chocolate tastes disgusting.

All the different flavour Kit Kats would be a good inclusion. As would Tootsie Rolls, Tootsie Pops, All the Hershey Bites and Caramel Pixie.

Also the different Oreo flavours are fantastic.

Dont forget that a lot of overseas products arent very likely to be
launched over here. We already have a lot of different new products
clogging up the chocolate shelves and the rate Nestle are going they
will need their own special Kit Kat shops to sell all of the varieties
of them.

Dont be surprised if Masterfoods launch a new white chocolate product
next year though...last year it was Maltesers, this year Twix...what
could be next?

Tootsie Rolls are a bit boring I think. Plus the namereminds me of people's toes.

Bleh, I hate tootsie rolls - always used to trade those with my brother for better candy.

I wouldn't mind seeing York Peppermint Patties over here, but then again I can always just smush a few After Eights together. Also, I would love to try caramel M&Ms - they sound yummy.

I think peanut butter flavoured Twix sounds alright.  I'm not a big Twix fan and I think that'd work.

They are selling a very similar version of these made by the same people in TEsco. I will try and get a picture up tonight. They are very tasty!

They just said that they're no longer produced, I presume cos they weren't popular or something

CyberCandy were selling mini peppermint patties last week. The were about the size of a £2 coin but twice as thick. Very nice . They also had a Christmas one in...it's in the shape of a snowflake.

From what I've read on Cybercandy and other sites they were filled with a caramel "Caramac" type chocolate rather than actual caramel, so maybe that's why.

Thats a good point there Kevvosa. I just assumed that the inside was actual caramel.

  Cherry Ripe, of course!!

My other half says he would like white smarties, peanut butter m&ms and almond m&ms to be available here.

White Smarties are avalible over here Cherry Ripe  Only just come out! I don't think they are limited as it doesn't say so on the packet.

Almond M&M's are lovely. I agree there. Don't like the peanut butter ones much.

I am always tempted to buy a package of almond M&Ms from Sweets from Heaven - Yumm. :)

Go for it sillyank. They use a whole almond for each sweet.

Oh, I know - almond M&Ms are one of my favourites, but I can't afford to keep buying a pack everytime I walk by Sweets from Heaven! I'm only a skint student

Well, went by Sweets from Heaven and I didn't buy a pack almond M&Ms. Instead I got a Whatchamacallit and some Reese's Pieces. Was craving something peanut butter flavoured, I guess

I am not overly keen on the peanut butter with chocolate products.

It says on the hershey website that they are bringing out reeses pieces with a peanut in. Like our peanut m&m's I guess.

I like the sound of Vanilla Smarties.  Can you still get Smarties in boxes?  Somehow they always tasted better than the ones in tubes.  The same goes for Fruit Gums (oops, not chocolate, sorry!).

Yes I still see the smarties in boxes at asda.

I know what you mean Goldencup - a box felt like a real treat. They always used to have them at the cinmea, and boxes of Fruit Pastilles, which sadly I had to give up when I turned veggie...

Yes I tasted them last week ... I bought a bunch of foreign chocolates from Cybercandy's shop in London. Vanilla Kitkats are good too.

Boohoo though ... they had no Cherry Ripes in store

No I have noticed that too. No Cherry Ripes!

Thats shop is a little gold mine! I can easily spend a fortune in there. Did you pick up the Pineapple Kit Kat as well?

Well there was a kind of KitKat-fest going on there, as there were so many different varieties! I tried the double chocolate, dark chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Didn't try the pineapple, don't like the sound of that so much. Have you tried this one?

Also got a dark aero, a chunky, a peppermint patty and a box of American Oreos (they had Japanese ones too) oh and loads of stuff besides, such as diet cherry coke and cherry something else. Oh, and I got 2 nice cherry type fondant centre chocolates. I forget what their name is .

I have tried all the KK's they have on sale in there. They are all nice except for the strawberry one. It wasn't vile but I sort of thought the combination didn't work. The pineapple one was actually quite nice. The combination seemed to work. The Oreos are lovely too. The Oreo Strawberry pies are lovely.

I got the dark aero and I thought it was gorgeous! Think I will get the dark mars next.

Did you have a Ceclia?

Oreos are lovely!  I remember I used to be able to buy Oreos at the supermarket here but I can't any more. I guess they were launched here and didn't catch on? The lady at Cybercandy said the Japanese ones are different so I plan to try those next time!

What's a Ceclia?  Errrm, I didn't get one of those...

Oh and I remembered the other drink I got, it was Wild Cherry Pepsi. I haven't drank the drinks yet but will try them this weekend and compare the tastes!

How often do you shop at Cybercandy, Chocolate Chick?

Ripe girl, has your cherry been picked?

Title: UK launch for overseas products?

I don't know if Oreos were officially launched here or if some supermarkets just imported them. I had a gorgeous Oreo base cheesecake once in the US - now THAT should be on sale here...
Title: UK launch for overseas products?
Post by: chocolate chick on December 10, 2004, 10:10:00 am

A Ceclia is a little chocolate and it has a cherry in the middle. Or was it a cheery blossom or a cherry mash that you had?

I try to pop in once a week and get something. It's on my way home from work so its conveniant. They do a special offers corner where they sell items just past their sell by date. These are usually half price or more!

I once picked up the Golden Oreos for a £1. A whole big packet of them!!! Definately try the Japanese Oreos, they are something special.

I recommend the Pokey's as well.

the american version of oh henry doesn't do much for me...try the canadian version, which is like 3 times bigger and better no joke...

reeses pieces are to die for; i pop those like none other...

twix peanut butter is good, but i'll stick with the original...

i've actually been surprised lately to see more UK products popping up here in the US, for instance at my local supermarket! grant it, it's standard stuff like dairy milk but i appreciate the effort...to me the US market is generally quite boring, but I still get excited as new editions of things come about...
