Lots of choccy biscuit bargains, including huge packs of McVities milk or plain digestives for £1.

In Store have been around for years - maybe they bought Poundstretcher out? Also Poundstretcher is not a pound shop, but the name suggests it at the mo.

Poundstretcher is expensive. I like Home Bargains.

Poundland is brilliant. You can get some real bargains on branded products. I just avoid the brands I don't know.

The poundshop is too tempting! At the moment they have big bags of Sweet Trats Bunnies. These are really good.

Thats a shame as some of the non UK branded products are nicer than ours. Ive had some lovely chocolate bars from other countries, the quality is generally better than what we have over here.

A good sweet brand found in some pound shops is Trolli, I think theyre German.

Poundstretchers are doing holidays now. They're called poundstretcher holidays and you can go anywhere you want on a stretcher for a pound.

I don't go to Poundland any more as it's far too expensive.  I prefer our new 99p shop.  It must be a horrible place to work though - think of handling all those 1p pieces!

Pound shops are not always bargains, I have seen various bits of pound shop stuff at Wilkinsons for 69p!

Same here. I think you need to think before you buy in there. The big bags of chocolate can be quite good value.

The thing with cheap shops is that you buy more cos you think you're snapping up a bargain. But so often I go into Home Bargains and spend loads on rubbish that I never even wanted.

There is some truth in that!

Poundland has Cadbury's Selection Boxs down to a pound a box.

I'm surprised they didn't open them to sell the choc bars individually.

Sainsbury's reduced their selection boxes to 59p. Poundland are rip-off merchants!

We have a new store opening in town soon called Home Bargains. I am guessing they will be like poundstretcher or similar. We don't currently have any shops like that in the city centre other then Wilko.

Home Bargains is much better than Poundland/Poundstretcher. They sell branded goods at reasonable prices.

Whats the Pepsi Max Spice like?

Post by: kevvosa on March 20, 2006, 06:08:26 pm
Not much different from regular pepsi. Its a red colour though which is weird. It has a very slight taste of spice.

I tried the Pepsi Max Cino last week. They were giving away those little cans at the trainstation. Nothing special, you could taste something different with it. Not sure I would actually buy it. The fact that I dont really like fizzy drinks doesn't help...

Fanta has been around for donkey's years. I remember being quite small and having fish and chips and a bottle of Fanta from the chip shop on holiday. It was memorable because we hardly ever used fish and chip shops.

Fanta in Spain tastes like it used to in UK before the usual recipe change.

Is Sunkist still sold then? When I was a kid it was a big brand as I remember, I used to have it all the time. I havent seen it in years though.

I liked Sunkist too. One of the fizzy drinks I enjoyed. They had it in New York so its still going.

Bargain! The nearest thing iHave to Home Bargains is Leather Lane Market.

This week they had huge 400g bars of Swiss Chocolate for £1. Tastes ok, not quite Lindt but not bad. And Pizazz one box £1 or 2 for £1.50.

Our Home Bargains has the Intense Orange too. Also Lindor choc £2 instead of £3.50 (or more depending on where you shop!) and cheap Roses Luxury Selection, Dairy Box and Black Magic.

Ive tried it and although the chocolate is nice and rich, theres too many hazelnuts in it and too little raisins.

I agree with Black Knight about Fruit & Nut.  It needs that slight sourness in the chocolate and only Cadbury's seem to get it right.  I'm not impressed by Guylian or Milka Fruit & Nut.

I like going in Poundland and asking the assistant, 'How much is this?'

'It's a pound dear'.  'And this?'  'It's a pound!'

Then a bit later, 'excuse me how much is this?'

'ITS A POUND, EVERYTHINGS A POUND!'

Like shooting fish in a barrel.
