Title: Cola/Kola Chew
Post by: Hello Sweetie on October 15, 2005, 05:55:07 pm
Does anyone remember these:
Cola/Kola Chew, it was a boiled sweet about the
size of a 10p, deep pink with little brown dots and/or
a brown or black squiggle through it. It had raised
'mounds' on both sides.

They do but they're nothing like Hello Sweetie's description.  I'm sure she knows what Cola Kubes look like (sort of cube shaped.....).

I do remember these. I think they were made by Trebor. They had a hard shell and a chewy centre and there was also a bright pink spearmint chew version and they were delicious. A hard pink shell with raised bobbles and a chewy centre.

I love boiled sweets. Especially herbal ones. I'm not so keen on boiled fruit sweets or ordinary silver mints though.

didn't the pink ones taste of spearmint?

There were pink drolets like Tom Thumb drops and they tasted of spearmint but they were called spearmint pips. There were also cola pips and sherbert pips. Some boys in my school used to get a mouthful nice and wet and them blast them out of their mouths one-by-one at great speed.

Yuk.
