You can buy these in Woolies. I haven't had one for ages. I take the walnut off, nibble round the chocolate, lick the centre out then eat the shell.

Re Walnut Whips, does anyone remember them having a walnut half inside at the bottom, as well as outside on top?  Can you still get the coffee ones ?

Title: walnut whips
Post by: oldspice on September 09, 2005, 10:02:52 pm

Yes, I remember the walnut inside but I did not like it! i do remember the coffee ones but haven't seem them for years.

I think the whole product should have a re-vamp with new flavours to reflect modern tastes. A cappacino version or maple syrup - with a big advertising campaign

Oh yes - a maple syrup version would be gorgeous!

Yes oldspice I have still been nursing part time but had enough. Some of the people I work with are evil and cruel to the elderly. I also still been doing a bit work, answering phones and doing the mail for what was my dads building business but I'm not going to do that anymore either.

Sounds like you've reached a bit of a crossroads Lou - take your time and decide what you want to do.

I seen a nurse throw a cup of cold water in an old ladies face to wake her up and when i spoke out I was told to keep my mouth shut. Of course I didn't but it's amazing who's side people take when they are scared of losing their jobs or being moved to a different ward that they maybe don't care for.

I always wanted to be a teacher when I was younger. But then when I
left school I trained to be a secretary. I now wish I had stuck at
teaching.

Mm. Teachers are leaving the profession in droves. Long hours, lots of abuse, never-ending changes to a very prescriptive curriculum... I could go on. Don't be fooled by the long holidays either. Many teachers spend most of their holidays working.

My salary as a senior curriculum developer is about the same as a good secretary could earn in London.

A lot has changed over night. I work 2 jobs where I am. 3 days in one
office and 2 days in another. One working with students and one working
with staff. There is currently a management review happening here and
it would mean I have to be in the same office 5 days a week. I thought
I would have to be in the one working with students all the time but I
can be in the one working with staff all the time. I am over the moon
about it. Its a real career boost.

Good for you. Well done.

I wish I had never done my most recent university course to become a specialist. The promotion that followed has left me in way over my head organising courses I know virtually nothing about because I have not been given enough time to learn the ropes.

It is typical of the approach in education. It's crisis management. All sorts of people end up in jobs they are not ready for to cover staff who have left or gone sick. It's completely mad.

Two weeks into the new term I am exhausted, run down a disillusioned. I can't even spell anymore.

I am in a similar situation Oldspice so I understand a little of how you feel.  I was very reluctant to accept my temporary management post, especially as I am 'supported' by someone who has also just been dropped into his area management post with no experience.  So far I am winging it but at the back of my mind I know that it could all go very wrong and if it does, my head will be the one on the chopping block.  I don't sleep very well at the moment.

Me too. Lack of sleep just makes you even more run down. I think it is characteristic of the Public Sector/Civil Service right now.

However, I know the pressure is on everyone these days.
