Reading the post about dipping chips in creme egg (ugh!) made me think of this topic. At college for some reason we all used to dip prawn cocktail crisps in strawberry yogurt and I've previously admitted to a liking for Marmite and strawberry jam on toast.
Does anyone else like any strange combinations?
-
I like peanut butter and beetroot sandwiches.
-
But then I hate peanut butter. In Australia they put beetroot with everything, especially burgers, and I got to like that when I was there.
-
I like the crinkle cut beetroot.
-
Me too, we have so much in common.
-
Robbie do you like pickled onions?
-
I adore grilled bananas wrapped around with bacon. It is the most heavenly combination in the world.
-
Peanut butter and jam sandwiches (PBJs) or peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches (fluffernutters) - both are perfectly normal back at home. but I haven't met a person here who shares my likings and I don't expect to.
-
I think peanut butter can be mixed with allsort and still be nice. Same as Philadelphia cheese. I love cheese and stawberry jam together.
-
Mmm, cream cheese and strawberry jam - now that's a good combination!
-
I'm not sure about peanut butter with allsorts though....
-
Peanut butter is nice with bananas or apple.
-
Ah, I thought you meant Liquorice Allsorts!
-
Never tried it but I'm game if you are.
-
Well as I don't like peanut butter or liquorice I don't think I'd find it a good combination!
-
chicken
-
mature cheddar and marmalade sandwiches....yummy
-
that sounds lovely and a combination i never thought of. I will try it.
-
Cheese and apricot chutney go well so I should think this would be a little similar.
-
I love cream cheese and salad on fruit bagels.
-
mature cheddar and marmalade sandwiches....yummy
I have tried these and they are nice
I like eating a piece of chocolate followed by crisps.
Steak with melted cheese is nice
-
What about sausages with marmalade. Yum.
Silverskin pickled onions with mint After Eight (ratio 2 : 1) (good at Christmas).
Dry Weetabix spread with thick butter.
-
-
Are you insane?
-
I think so.
-
Also :
Peanut butter, bacon and banana sandwiches.
Dainty brown bread finger sandwiches (crusts off) made with a filling of whipped cream flavoured with ginger. Really. Try it.
-
are you pregnant cos that would explain it.
-
Nope, don't do children, never have, never will

I just love my grub !!!!
Alright. These delicasies (sp) are usually consumed after having a few too many glasses of Chateau Neuf de Pape.
-
That explains it then. I like black pudding and cold peas when I've had a drink.
-
Would that be made fresh, or left overs ??
-
Always a fresh tin of marrowfat peas and some fresh black pud, uncooked.
-
Uncooked?
Is that healthy?
-
-
Yes you don't have to cook black pud to eat it. It's always raw when the pubs put it out on a sunday lunch time.
-
Technically, black pudding is already cooked before it reaches you the customer. Otherwise it would be red pudding!
-
Yes that is true. The only time I ever cook it is if I grill it and have it with breakfast.
-
Well, you learn something new every day !
-
How on earth did black pudding come about? Can you imagine someone standing in the kitchen thinking, 'mmm, what would be really delicious is some dried blood fried in lard...'
-
-
Probably the same person who came up with haggis and tripe smurfy.
-
Cannot speak for tripe-I have never tried it.
However, good haggis is very agrreable. On hot buttered toast it makes a nice pate.
-
-
No, no. Haggis is good. Haggis spring rolls are excellent. Like chinese spring rolls but filled with haggis. Yum Yum.
-
Indeed, haggis is good! In the east of Scotland they have mealie puddings which are not entirely dissimilar to haggis, they are lovely too. We don't get them in England - they are not even available in the whole of Scotland - but whenever I visit my family I bring a load back for the freezer
-
Has anyone tried vegetarian haggis. My butcher sells it.

I love this too - although I have it on toast rather than sandwiches.
Another great filling for a sandwich is peanut butter, cheese and cucumber.
YUM
-
Why has this been moved?
-
has it?
-
oh i see it has.
-
Always a fresh tin of marrowfat peas and some fresh black pud, uncooked.
Surely 'fresh tin' is an oxymoron?
-
Oh no smurfy you have joined the ' i found a post that is 18 months old to reply to' club.
-
Only because someone linked to it. I don't go trawling for old posts!
-
Well that's a relief.
-
kit-kats on toast :)
-
My hubby likes chocolate spread and thinly sliced onion sandwhiches. It's not bad so long as the onion is sweet.
A favourite of mine is homemade chocolate truffles rolled in creamy blue cheese, it's a fantastic combination. I got the idea from heston blumenthal, apparently the two ingredients are meant to be paired together and who amI to argue, lol.
-
I cannot stand blue cheese, so this isn't for me.
-
peanut butter and syrup sandwiches are my favourite combo, like eating a bready snickers :)
-
I hate to admit this and I am not pregnant before you ask but.......
Onion ring crisps and peanut m&m's
-
I adore grilled bananas wrapped around with bacon. It is the most heavenly combination in the world.
My tummy says it wanted to eat this! It's been a while since I last have one!
