My dad had a colleague once called Mr D Duck. A friend of mine claimed her dad worked with someone called Wayne Kerr, but surely no one was that cruel to their child?

I used to work with a guy called Michael Hunt who called himself Mike. It was funny calling his name on the tanoy ... 'has anyone seen Mike Hunt?' You get the idea.

Also I know a girl whose surname is Boobier

My nephew is called Christopher Peacock, which you would have thought is fairly harmless.  But he hadn't been at school long before he became known as Crispy Cock!

I have taught a Richard Burton, a James Brown and a James Hendrix Dean. I even taught a Penny Lane who was the daughter of a friend of mine.

The strangest named student i ever taught was called Wi Wi Poo

  Wi Wi Poo?  Actually that's not really funny - it's positively tragic!

Did the poor person realise the implications and couldn't they call themselves something else?

Well, you see, when translated into Chinese script, this is a very hard name to write, which is why some parents choose it for their children - because they want them to have challenge early in life. It's very much the Chinese way. Of course, the words translate differently too so it has a different meaning.

Often, when Chinese people Anglicise their name, they choose old-fashioned names so they are sometimes called Montgomery, Felix or Herbert, Doris or Gladys  - I prefer Wi Wi!!
